The enhancement of physical and mental development of children is certainly the most important contribution of sports for children. Sport is quite beneficial for children. By playing sports, children develop physical skills, exercise, make new friends, have fun, learn to be a team member, learn about play fair, improve self-esteem etc.
Yoga is an important part of our philosophy. Yoga can improve balance, strength, endurance, concentration, memory and self-confidence and can also reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. We practice yoga to help children make personal connections and develop empathy. Moving through yoga also help children to be present and mindful. If we want to live in a more loving and compassionate world, we have to start with our children.
Competition. Being competitive not just in sport, but life in general is not really a bad thing! The adjustment from fun participation in sport to the more competitive and a ‘win at all cost’ mentality can be detrimental to the proper understanding of what is most important. At a young age, and when first introduced to sport, all children must be actively involved and always included in all games. No child should ever feel less adequate than another, and must always be encouraged and their participation valued. In later life, the importance of team membership, not just in sport, but in work and the community becomes more relevant than ever!
